  • Struggle to read the messages on your smartphone?
  • Do images appear less vibrant than they used to?

Growing old is a privilege.

But when it comes to eye health, aging can bring on several ocular conditions and diseases like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.

Vision impairment decreases one's ability to perform activities of daily living and increases the risk for depression.

Dr. Bui has something that too many other doctors don't have b/c apparently it's not taught in med s... chool; she has an amazing personality. She will also show you, without being technical or condescending, what your eyes are doing. I highly recommend her, and can't wait to see her in the coming months.

Took my first exam and it wasn’t that bad at all. Finally got new glasses after 2 years wearing th... e previous glasses with a strap or templed tips on it.

A new daily was suggested and is the best contact lens I’ve ever had. Biotrue Baush & Lomb Presbyo... pia multifocal daily. Superb vision and comfort. I’ve been wearing contacts lenses for 35 years or more. The technology is clearly much better with these lenses in my opinion. Every attending Dr was the best of the best. Issues with supporting staff - but to be expected anywhere in my opinion.

This is a storefront business so parking is free , accessible and close by. The staff is helpful and... agreeable. Dr Bui is very pleasant and knowledgeable. This is not merely an optometrist providing glasses, but they also treat eye infections, eyelash under the lid removal and basic assistance concerning eye conditions and diseases. Much less expensive than an ophthalmologist, however they don't perform surgery of course. They aren't md's.

I’ve been going to them for years. Short wait times, great service, and affordable. Also the optom... etrists are honest and kind.

Dr. Bui is part of the infantsee program. She was very sweet and patience with my 9 month old and 3.... 5 years old. My daughters love her. She explained everything in detail and helped ease all my concerns regarding potential lazy eyes that runs in the family. If you are looking for someone who's good with baby, look no further. We will be back again for future checkups.

Highly recommend! I saw Dr. Bao today. She was friendly, professional, and very thorough. She explai... ned what she was doing and what she found. The staff was also friendly and helpful. The office is clean and in good repair. The frames were out of my price range but I'll definitely go back for my next eye exam.

Senior Vision FAQs

Can presbyopia be corrected?

Presbyopia, age-related farsightedness, affects your eyes’ ability to focus on near objects. You may become aware of presbyopia once you begin holding books and newspapers at arm’s length to be able to read them. This condition is a natural part of the aging process and affects virtually all adults in their 40s. Our eye doctors will diagnose and help correct your presbyopia so you can see clearly again. They'll provide you with corrective glasses and/or contact lenses, such as monovision and multifcoals.

What are the most common vision problems in the elderly?

The most common causes of vision loss among the elderly are age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.

  • Age-related macular degeneration is characterized by the loss of central vision.
  • Glaucoma results in visual field loss.
  • Cataracts cause blurred vision and faded colors among the elderly.
  • Diabetic retinopathy is characterized by blurred vision and floaters, among other symptoms.
  • Other conditions include dry or watery eyes and floaters.

Because many of these conditions may initially be asymptomatic, it's critical that elderly patients undergo routine eye exams. The earlier these conditions are detected, the better the treatment outcome.

Can macular degeneration be prevented?

Although there’s no sure-fire method for preventing eye disease, certain lifestyle habits can put the odds in your favor. To help ensure healthy vision for a lifetime, wear high-quality sunglasses whenever outdoors, quit smoking if you do, eat eye-healthy foods, and ask your optometrist about taking AREDS supplements. Most importantly, regular visits with your eye doctor are crucial to keeping your vision sharp throughout your golden years.
